Access and preparation

Careful strip-off
The old covering, battens and membrane are removed in controlled sections so the underlying structure can be examined.
Timber assessment
Accessible rafters, decking and roofline timbers are checked. Any previously hidden concerns are photographed and discussed before additional work.
Weatherproof layers
Breathable membrane and treated battens are installed to the specified gauge, with eaves support and ventilation details prepared.
Tiles, slate and leadwork
The chosen covering is laid and fixed. Ridges, verges, valleys, abutments and penetrations are completed to suit the design.

What if hidden damage
is discovered?
Some timber defects cannot be confirmed until the covering and membrane have been removed. If we find unexpected decay or damage, we pause that area, record the issue and explain the practical options.
Additional work is not quietly added to the bill. We discuss the scope and price with you before proceeding, except where immediate temporary protection is essential to keep the property safe and weatherproof.
